Busy, busy weekend!

We got a lot of wedding things done this past weekend. Yay! I have, of course, mentioned a lot of them already because I get so excited when I do something wedding that I have to share it!

Recap List:

♥Ordered Wedding Cake Toppers (post below)
♥DIY - Table Number Frames (post below)
♥Booked Caterer
♥Ordered Invitations

The catering was quite a journey to arrange but in the end we're using a local restaurant that my friend Heather manages, The Sunset Grill. I spent a few nights hanging around the restaurant last summer, catching up with Heather, after having spent many years away from home. I also met Tim, the owner, a few times; he's such a well traveled, funny guy that I'm glad to be working with them for our catering. (Thanks again to the Schwartzes for offering to cater for our wedding in the first place as none of this would be possible without their generosity.)

We also ordered our invitations! Very excited about this! We ordered an Invitation, a Reception card and an RSVP postcard. Dave custom designed all three and they're being printed at vistaprint.com (they printed our Save The Date cards, too). I also ordered brown kraft envelopes from a different site. I plan to zigzag stitch a piece of vellum paper over the invitation - to dress it up a bit - but if that doesn't work out we may shell out the extra cash to buy vellum envelopes to put them in.

I had no idea how many details went into weddings, and how everything sort of has a purpose. For instance, the invitation does get sent in an envelope with all of the other little cards (which could include maps, directions and what-not, but we've chosen to put all that on the wedsite) but I didn't know it is supposed to have it's own separate inner envelope, that is typically addressed to the guests by first name. If we do end up getting the vellum envelopes for the invitations "inner envelope" I don't think I am going to write any names on them. In my mind, the reason for using the vellum envelope is to showcase the invitation in a way that you get a peek through the vellum, but it's still separate and special. I've definitely spent way too long thinking about invitations. Here they are (in .jpg form anyway); I can't wait for them to arrive in "up to 21 days"!

Our Table "Numbers" Are Done!

A quick, little DIY project tonight resulted in the completion of our table numbers! We named our tables after trees and the "August Seventh" one is for the head table. Cheap and easy project: IKEA frames 3 for $2.49, scrabble letters from an extra game we had, leftover save the date cards and some glue! It was fast and easy to do. We love them!

Save The Dates.

Our Save The Date postcards (or STDs - heehee) are in the mail! David and I finished filling them out last night and they're off! We've officially let everyone we love know we're getting married! It's so exciting for us... it feels so real now!

But on a "back-to-business" note: Could you all take a look at our wedsite, link, and let us know if anything should be added right now?? We have included the link on the STD postcard, so guests will be looking at it soon. Please email me and let me know if something ought to be tweaked.

The following pages are scheduled to be added closer to the date:

♥Ceremony and Reception (with a copy of our invite and details for the location)
♥Family and Friends (introducing our parents and the folks participating in our ceremony)
♥Wedding Party (introducing our wedding party)

So please let us know soon if we need to tweak anything. My personal email is vagabonddanielle@gmail.com Thanks!

Re-Ordering STDs and such...

We reordered our save-the-date cards yesterday. We used vistaprint.com which has some amazing deals. They had a bunch of stuff for free, too, that we ordered. We made some cards for the tables that have our wedding photo sites on it for people to access and upload their digital images from the celebration. As well as, some other neat stuff that I'm sure will prove useful, for free!

My biggest curiosity with it all is the STDs. Initially we had ordered them from 123print.com. We recieved them and they were lovely. But this was before we had changed the date. So, the new STDs are the same, but with the date change. I'm curious to see the difference between the quality of the two sites and hope that they are equally as nice, if not better!

Time will tell.

I am in love....

with FAUX BOIS!

Yeah, yeah... I'm in love with David, too. That's a given. But this morning I have discovered the wonderful world of faux bois! I'm starting to put some more thought into the invites and such... and because our theme seems to be so heavily natural and rustic (plus our STDs have trees on them) I'm trying to figure out how to design our invitations... make them a little classier than our STDs, but still keep the natural elements. Google image searching like a maniac this morning I found this invitation:

...and I absolutely adore the back of it! I hadn't really considered putting anything on the back of the invitations, but I love this idea and think I am going to roll with it. So for now, brainstorming the invites to be a large postcard size with a tree on the left side (off the page, too) growing up and over the top of the invitation - with the wording on the right side, then the faux bois image on the back. There is so much brown in all of this, and I like that, but I also want to add some of the lavender to it all... so I'm thinking if our names are larger and in lavender, that would add enough to it.

As always... if you have any ideas, feel free to give us a shout!

AUGUST 7th, 2010

Final Date. =)

Times they are a changin....

I checked the Loudon Raceway schedule. NASCAR is actually the weekend of my birthday (the 26th) but there are races the weekend of June 5th. There are, however, races every weekend at Loudon! I also checked NH's Calendar of Events and with that in mind I plan on trying for August 7th now. The town hall isn't open today, so I can't call and see if that date is available until tomorrow. I am not terribly worried about it. (If it is not available I will just pick Saturdays going backwards into July, 31st, 24th, 17th.)

So where it stands now, I am going to call tomorrow and try to get Aug 7th.... Stay Tuned.

Change the Date!?!?

It turns out that June 5th there is a NASCAR race in Loudon, NH. Dave's Dad checked with some of the B&Bs that I had posted on the wedding website for availability and found out about it (Thanks Jack!). I called my Mom this morning and had her change it to June 12th, then my sister/MOH reminded me about Laconia's Motorcycle Rally Week! Bah! I honestly was all for eloping at that point but Dave convinced me that it's just a hiccup in time. So I will check NH's calendar of events for the middle and end of July and the beginning of August and see if we can't find a date in there that the venue is available too. At least the only thing we "lost" was the cost of the Save The Date cards and fortunately we hadn't mailed them yet. =)

Saving the Date...

I found a couple of ideas online that I liked for STD postcards and Dave tweaked them to our liking. This is the one (front and back) that I ordered and below are the two that I borrowed ideas from. We changed some things like removing the border, changing the birds and the wording on the back.
